Our turn to become more Sustainable = Hydroponics
Hydroponics is the method of growing plants in a water based nutrient rich solution. The process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid with added nutrients but without soil. Our group in class was given the task to care for a hydroponic system located inside of our classroom. We got to choose the plants that we wanted to grow and from there we had to observe and see changes of our plants over time. Our data was on pH levels, temperature, and nutrience levels. The big task also was to grow plants so that we may create a dish out of them to serve the class at the ending of its growing time.
How to become more Sustainble?
Being more sustainable and green to our honua, earth, is something that all of us human beings must strive to be. As our earth is diminishing from holes into the ozone layer to unexplained chaotic happenings, there’s only a limited time left that we have before we destroy the only thing we know that can sustain life. Our earth has been around for roughly 5 billion years being built out of clouds of gas, dust, and atom particles that for some miracle reason happened so perfectly, in time creating living organisms. Soon through evolution, we would become part of this earth life being classified as Homo Sapiens according to scientific naming. As time has progressed to today, we have destroyed, destructed, abused, polluted, and trashed this place. Carbon Dioxide emissions, Greenhouse gases, the burning of Fossil Fuels, Oil Spills, and tremendous harmful chemical use, has all been a product of our species, those of which continue to tick the clock down on our survival. What can we do to save our species? How can one person change all of society? How will it even work? These are the questions that many of us ask ourselves. Although, one out of 7 billion people in this world cannot make a difference on their own, when we start to continue good habits others will hopefully catch on creating a domino effect that will soon cause a mass sustainability process. One of these ways to become more sustainable and eco-friendly on our own is to create a grow a system known as Hydroponics.
